Is it true that its more likely to not feel an earthquake if you are listening to your iPod?

I was listening today and there was a magnitude 3ish quake and I didn't notice at all...

  1. That's probably not true. hearing and feeling are two TOTALLY different things so I think you would feel one.

  3. You're more likely to be oblivious to many things while listening to your iPod, especially cars which are about to hit you.

  4. Not exactly. You can be having a earthquake right now and not even be feeling it. Earthquakes come and go.

  5. The sensing limit differs from person to person and animals to animal of same category.Some times if your concentration is on some thing you may not notice small earthquakes. There are some amplification factors that will help to feel the earthquake properly from that place only.When your neighbor felt it you should have felt it.But because of the diversion in your concentration you have not felt it. The earthquake of Richter scale 3 when sensed from a distance of 100 k/m you will get a shake of only 0.1 mm.This will increase by ten fold for each Richter scale and reduce by inverse square of the distance.If you are in sandy ground the shaking will be more.
