  1. Alwyn was pick 36 in the 2006 draft - aged 22

Melbourne has a chance to pick him up at pick 30 but chose Ricky Petterd instead.

Interesting to note some of the late picks and what they are doing in 2008

Port picked up Justin Westoff at 71 and David Rodan was pick 86 in the same draft

WB picked up Josh Hill at 61

Pies picked up Tyson Goldsack at 63

Ess picked up Houli at 42, Reimer at 47

Adelaide picked up Mackay at 48

  2. It might be.It happens with a lot of teams.

For example: Brad Ebert went to the eagles and he has already played 4 or so games. The crows could of had him but they passed him up for anouther guy who hasnt even played a game yet!

Maybe they passed Davey because they knew that he was probably going to leave them soon anyway so he wasnt  agood investment. Or maybe they already have a quality player that fills the spot that Davey wanted to play in.

  3. Maybe Melbourne were hoping he wouldn't get picked in the draft and take him in the rookie draft. Plus Melbourne already had Aaron Davey who plays in a very similar way. Highnsight is a wonderful thing, the Dockers gave up the #1 pick to hawthorn for trent croad, that draft saw Hodge, Ball and Judd in the top 3.
