Well, scientists said before that the male cells are decreasing in size so...the males might be extinct in a few centuries time.

  1. That will be interesting.  Then women will be extinct right around the same time.

  2. ive never heard of this,i hope it never happens

  3. It is true that male sperm are now quite a lot more useless than before. It is also commonly believed that the Y chromosome is degrading, In some mammal species the Y has been lost already. However this doesn't mean that males will cease to exist. It's hundreds of millions of years since our ancestors began to rely on sexual reproduction for producing offspring, and for that reason we as a species/our genetics are "set in their ways", if you like. If males did become extinct somehow, they'd soon spring up again in some form, just because sexual reproduction is so useful for creating unique combinations of genes and encouraging genetic diversity.

  4. we can all live and hope lol

  5. For the sake of the human race I hope not! However, I would imagine it would take alot more then a 1,000 years if you were to entertain that theory.

  6. What has been said and what has actually happened is two different things. May be the genetics sciences will take over and make more bigger male genes so it can change up or down. So don`t fret we will be extinct by any means if we are going to go we will take the rest of you with us now we do not want to lonely by not being born do we???

  7. no, we gonna be extinct much sooner, 2012

  8. The way things are going I don't think there will be any men or women left in 1000 years!

  9. I'll let you know the answer on 12 August 3008

  10. .....Were these "scientists" on tv? XD

No, but it's possibility that all humanity will be if we keep up how we're going.

  11. really cool nice 1 ha ha,

  12. I read an article a few months ago in BBC Focus. The thrust is that there's a type of asexual reproduction called 'parthenogensis' where instead of the egg being fertilised by sperm two combine giving a child where all the genetic material comes from the mum. This means that all offspring are female.

Don't worry though there's a thing called 'imprinting' in mammals where the imprint from both ovaries and testes need to be present in the DNA otherwise the right genes won't activate at the right time and the embryo aborts at an early stage of development. It could be useful for stem cell research though.

  13. ROFLMAO!!!!!

  14. i'm going to be partying then if i'm still alive.

  15. Well, the estrogen levels in the water has increased a dramatic amount due to women who are taking the contraceptive pill releasing hormones into the water through urination and the hormones is not taken out of the water supply.

The change of s*x has been seen in fish, the male fish are developing characteristics of female fish. Even some human males are seen to grow b*****s in worst affected areas.

With the increased estrogen release, sperm is being reduced and the male testosterone levels are decreasing leading to less sperm and a higher chance of female sperm due to hormones.

There are indeed more women in the world and it could soon become an epidemic of the ratio of women to men becoming exceedingly high and reproduction slowing down.

The thing is, with constant advance in medical science and cloning (though it still has many faults), there is little need to worry, there COULD be a threat of extinction but it is unlikely to happen with science in the advance it is.

  16. I absolutely love the line "scientists said" - names of scientists? What they do? Where they come from?

A statement backed up with "scientists said" just doesn't do it for me.

  17. If we die, females will not be able to reproduce, so you will die too.

  18. The male Y chromosome is decreasing in size as duplicate genes that are also found on the X chromosome are removed. Until women start reproducing asexually there will always be a man and a women s*x in humans

  19. Great ......Lesbians Rule !

  20. that is one of the most rediculous things i have ever heard in my life. i thought the religious folks in the religious section were meant to spit out this nonsense not in the scientific section for *** sake lol

where did u hear such c**p?

males and females (humans) are of the same species if one goes extinct so does the other... look up extinction.

  21. just think of that lucky b*****d who will be the last man on earth

  22. Yes and then there will be a big cat fight and women will soon follow.

  23. I heard that was true

  24. well no idea........................

  25. Unless some breakthrough which increases our life expectancy occurs within a century, I really don't care.  No one really knows, it is speculation.

  26. That is perhaps true, but with our ongoing progress in genetics, I am sure we will eventually find a remedy for this (if the human species even lasts another 1000 years).

It would probably be fixed by genetically engineering a new zygote, which had all identical DNA to an original zygote, however with slightly modified genes which code for the size of the cells so that they are no longer decreasing in size.

  27. Only if women are extinct in 900 years time.

  28. No its not true.....Who here would still be alive in 1000 years to affirm what you or the scientists say. Its just speculation.
