Is it true that men in Korea/India hold hands in public?

I've read somewhere that in Korea, it is customary for teens and men who are close to hold their hands in public like while they're walking. But it is considered inappropriate for people of the opposite s*x--couples or not--to hold hands or display affection in public. To what extent is this going on? How old are the males holding hands, is it just the older people or the younger ones as well? Someone also mentioned that young Korean men (who're closed) may kiss each other as a way of teasing, how true is this? Also I've heard the exact same thing happening in a certain region of India (except the kissing part) Is this true in India as well?

  1. Men holding hands, and other macho sightings in Southern India

The first time, you are shocked. Eventually, you get used to it. In between, you go through various stages of reaction—puzzlement, wonder, curiosity, disgust, grudging acceptance, repulsion, etc. The sight is a common enough one in these parts--- grown men and teenaged boys holding hands in public like lovers that cannot bear physical separation from each other. This, in the same society where even incidental contact between the opposite sexes is still taboo. But men cannot stop pawing each other. The way they carry on is enough to unleash the latent homophobe in most of us

  2. it's called skinship

they're really close to each other but they're not g*y or anything

  3. I haven't seen any of my Indian friends holding hand to another male.  As for Korean, we don't hold hands in public or private.

When I was in elementary school back in Korea, my teacher told us to hold each other's hands on the way back to home.  It was protection from car, bicycle or even kidnaper.  Korean School thought it would be safer if kids go with group.  As for kissing, only Korean g*y kisses another man.  Oh..  Korean men sometimes grab each other's shoulder like rugby players if they are closed friends.

  4. These places aren't as prejudice about men holding hands and kissing as most places their it's not sexual it's just that their close or that it's friendship just like a lot of men will stand close together while talking. It is another story when two people of the opposite s*x are doing this because tradition shy-es away from affection even if your married.
