I always hear that women in France are very skinny (from people who have never been to France)....However, living in America (hollywood/Miami)....there doesnt get much skinnier than that (practically starvation)....therefor, they must have petite body frames more so than just being 'skinny'

  1. They also have hairy armpits and they like to smoke.

  2. Yes, some of the women in LA, NY, etc. are slim and many are about as slim as French women.  In France, ppl do eat smaller portions and if you ever visit there, take a good look at the eclairs, croissants, etc. They are smaller-- good tasting, but smaller which helps ppl stay slim.  French ppl also eat plenty of fruits and veggies which help.  You will also notice that the beef in the supermarkets have less marble in the meat and there is generally no 1/2 inch thick strip of fat on the edges.  Ppl there also tend to walk more-- to work, after supper, etc.

  3. people in france tend to be very thin because their diets are much different than ours... their largest meal of the day is lunch not dinner, so they have a small breakfast, large lunch(kids come home from school for lunch) and then a small dinner like a bowl of soup or a salad.

  4. Actually the body frame of French women is no different to that in other Western countries, including the US.  The difference is in diet and the amount of food consumed in each meal.  American meals are much larger than most Western European meals.  And fast food outlets (eg McDonalds) are rarely considered as an alternative to a good home cooked or restaurant meal.  Plus takeaway food in France is much, much healthier than than in the US.

  5. People in France, both men and women, are generally thinner than people in America.

In fact, France has had the lowest prevalence of obesity among nine northern European countries and that rate is among the lowest of westernized countries in the world.

However, the rate of obesity in France has doubled in recent years to 12 percent. While still well below American levels of obesity the issue has been a subject of considerable concern in France.

  6. It is true that typical French woman has a smaller frame that the 'typical' American woman so they might look skinny to you. I know I guess at tourists nationality by their look and I find that the the big framed woman with that peculiar sleek look is usually American. Of course the ubiquitous sneakers help.
