In a 1992 study at the Juilliard School in New York City, a world-renowned conservatory for the performing arts, Marilyn Schlitz and Charles Honorton found that its gifted population of music, dance, and drama students showed twice the level of psi ability compared with chance expectation.

  1. as far as heavy metal goes, that's true.

  2. You have to predict the other people you are playing with, so a connection in the brain where communication with someone else or many is developed in the right hemisphere.  And these brilliant people show great timing in their daily existence too.

  3. I beleive that true musicians are gifted in many more ways than just being able to play and compose music.

  4. no i dont think so

  5. Unfortunately, this is issue is considerably more complicated than a yes/no answer. For instance the posted article suggest that creativity (which is found among musicians) may be at work. Further research with this population and others is exploring the possibility of a correlation between creativity measures and ESP performance. Of course we are also talking only about ESP performance under the conditions of the Ganzfeld (where even the general public score higher than chance expectation, granted not as high as the Juliard students).

The relation to musicians may not hold if this test was conducted using junior college music majors. However, further research would have to be done to determine if this relationship/correlation holds. Keep in mind that Juliard is not just some school it is elite for the best (perhaps the most creative) students.

How performing art students that only act as subjects can be blamed by the skeptics for being more likely to interpret  experiences as paranormal in a well controlled study that meets criteria that was helped set by a skeptic (Ray Hyman) in order to explain these results is just a remarkable piece of uninformed reasoning. I suppose when you don't read the posted links (and gather the information) and you have nothing else you'll resort to your belief systems.

  6. none of the psychics i know are musicians. there are some artists, however.

  7. No one is!

  8. yes I have been playen since  I was 21 old enough to get in a bar in this state and I have always been able to read people.

    metal rules!!!!!

  9. It's possible musicians, being creative-minded, are more touchy-feely sensitive and observant.  It's possible that, since many creative people aren't always scientific-minded, that they are more likely to consider an irrational explanation for some event.

  10. Since no one has ever been able to demonstrate psychic powers, I'd say musicians have exactly the same chance of being psychic as everyone else.  Namely, 0%.

EDIT:  I'd be glad to hear what it actually is.  I'll even help you win the Nobel Prize if you can prove it, since no one else ever has been able to.

  11. Musicians and artists even talented craftsmen have some extra ability that we can't explain. It's kind of like being in a groove.

  12. i think that may have been a typo.(psycotic)

  13. Yes. I've known a few musicians who were in tune with the

universe that they could be considered intuitive.

  14. Musicians are more likely to be nuts.
