Is it true that neanderthal remains were found in northern Africa?

  1. Yes, Northern Africa, and Israel as well...

    The reason being, is that for the 300,000+ years that Neanderthals inhabited Europe, there were several Glacial Maximums covering Europe with ice, which forced them southward!

    They would return in search of wild game, each time the ice would recede!

    Also, during these times, southern Spain would be connected to Morocco, and Tunisia would be connected with Sicily!


  2. Depends on your definition.  Early H. sapiens are know in Africa from about 300,000 years ago and Neandertals are know in Israel.

    The most unambiguous Neandertals are from Western Europe.
