Is it true that on-campus jobs don't take taxes out of your check?

I heard this but don't know if it is true or not. It is an on-campus job NOT a work-study job if that makes any difference.

  1. Allie:

    Certain work study positions are not subject to Social Security or Medicare tax withholding, but will still be taxable income.  If this job is not a work study position, your wages will be subject to SS and Medicare as well as income tax withholding.  Your employer should explain this.


  2. It was once true.  In the mid-1990's, I did have an on-campus job that was not a work study job and no taxes were withhold, usually (they were withheld once).  I do not know if it is still true.
