  1. Its true. Each person has to pay £10 (English Note) when entering Turkey. You have to do this for years and your travel agent should have told you.

  2. It's true, you have to give them £10 sterling on entering and £10 sterling when leaving - this pays for your visa.

PS it has to be an ENGLISH £10, they will not accept any other kind as apparently other £10s are not worth as much (d**n Turks lol).

  3. Yes, it´s true!

    (b) Nationals of the UK and Ireland must pay their visa fees in Pounds Sterling and nationals of Austria must pay in Austrian currency. All other nationals eligible for visas on arrival must pay for their visas in US Dollars.

From the Turkish Embassy in London website:

British passport holders can obtain tourist visa at the port of entry in Turkey for £10,00

  4. Yep = it's normal for 'foreign places' to charge visitors (although most countries only charge you to LEAVE :-) )

  5. You have to purchase an entry visa. Its £10. you can also pay in Euros. take a £10 note, if you hand over a £20 you wont get change. You don't have to pay to leave. The visa is a multi entry visa and lasts for 3 months, so basically if you decide to go back again a month after you've come home you won't have to pay the £10 again.

  6. Well yes it is true, but it is what they charge you to get your visa. It isn't 20 pounds though, it is ten pounds or €15 or $20.  Maybe that is what got you confused

  7. yes £10.00 english note per person, but, its a h**l of a lot less than the turkish have to pay for a visa! enjoy your hols

  8. you have to pay £10 English pounds per person when entering the country, but not as you leave as suggested by someone else. This is for you visa.

  9. Yes £10 english note for each individual as you enter.  You get it at the visa desk before going through passport control.  They do not give change and do not usually accept a £20 note to cover 2 people so make sure you have correct money.  The visa covers you for 90 days so, if like me, you go to Turkey a few times over the summer you only have to pay it once.  Your travel agent should have told you this.

I have been going to Turkey (Hisaronu/Olu Deniz) since 1989 and love it; hope you have a great time.

  10. Yes you have to pay £10 pound on entering only whoever said £20 pound is wrong.  It used to be also that you should have a crisp clean £10 note they could and I think did not accept a £10 note in particularly bad condition

DO NOT FORGET ALSO THAT IT IS 90 DAYS STAY AND NOT THREE MONTHS! THERE IS A DIFFERENCE

  11. That is the most c**p I've ever heard. I flew to Turkey (Istanbul). Got a visa there for $20 (good for 1 entry up to 30 days)

I don't know where people are getting the information from, but I've actually been there.

Second time I went, we went to a consulate and paid in Euro, but it was a little more because they charge more at a consulate than at an airport.

  12. Yes that's true, you need to pay for the visa to be stamped on your passport (i'm not sure about the amount though) ..And why is that surprising? I have to pay at least 80-100 eur to get a visa for a European country. 20 pounds is nothing if you compare.
