  1. My son was ADD....he did VERY POORLY in school but has a VERY VERY high IQ....   ADD kids are VERY smart--it's just they have trouble concentrating and that hampers their ability to study, take tests OR do homework.. (all 3 things are necessities to do well in school)...   Funny thing though--my son's WORSE subject was math---and what does he end up doing as a career when he grew up?   Selling and computing INSURANCE contracts for long term care---a position that entails math all day long.     If ADD kids could work at their own pace,  they would get excellent grades in school.   By the way, he failed 7th grade and repeated it....

  2. Anyone can fail a class.  What does ADD have to do with it?  If you don't go to class and don't do your work, you'll fail it.

  3. no way .. i have ADD and couldn't pay attention enough to learn anything in class!

  4. If the student has an IEP or 504 plan accommodations must be given.  Accommodations can include but are not limited to extended time to take the test, testing with a smaller group of people and in some cases the test may be read to the student.  Again, it depends on the IEP.

  5. Nope!  Like someone already mentioned, accommodations OR modifications, or both, can be made for an IEP and a 504 plan will not necessarily make any and if it does, they are usually only accommodations.

  6. $$$$$$$$$ for the school.

ADD is a term over used.
