Is it true that prescribed contacts can do damage to your eye?

  1. Contacts will damage your eyes if they are not taken care of properly.  Whether they have a correction in them or not.

    The fact they are prescribed means they have been fitted by an eyecare provider and therefore won't cause any problems, as long as the wearer follows the rules and uses common sense...( but, sooo many don't )


  2. Uh no. Unless of course you don't need them.

I wore contacts for 12 years.  I always took proper care of them and got new ones on schedule.  Eventually my eyes started to reject them and I had to stop wearing them.  I was told that I probably killed some of the nerves on my eyes due to lack of oxygen from wearing contacts for so long.  My eyes were severely dry and it took three years of not wearing them to get back to normal.

    Also, I noticed a steady decline on my vision during the years I wore contacts.  Once I stopped my eye site slowly improved and I went down 2 prescription points during that time.

    Make sure you let your eyes "rest" from the contacts as much as possible.
