Is it true that putting a hot calphalon cooking pan in cold water causes it to wear out faster over time?

Because any time i cook something with the pans, and then put them under water to clean and cool them off, my roomate gets angry.

He says you should let them cool by themselves and clean them later.

Is this true??

  1. If you put any pan directly from the heat into cold water it could potentially warp the pan. Just let the pan sit on another burner to cool off, then put it in the sink.
