  1. yes

  2. I think it is mice that can't control their bladders. Because my rats are very good at it :) I love them for it. Also some pet rats are able to be litter trained. It's just that male rats in general do have a slight leak of urine nearly all the time. It's their way of scent marking. But in general rats can hold it. Some will even hold it on purpose if it means they get more time to play with you!

  3. rats are ticklish believe it or not, and some people who are tickled pee them selves. so if the people pee why wouldnt the rat, since the rat is the guinea pig for people

  4. No. Like many animals, rats will mark territory using urine, but they don't just urinate uncontrollably all the time. In general they are very clean animals, and will not soil their sleeping or eating areas. I have kept and bred rats for nearly two decades, and have never once been peed on.

  5. Noooo!!! They can, but that does not mean they will

  6. I have read that too.

I have had a lot of pet rats, and they certainly can control their bladders.  They find out that people don't like being peed on, so they don't pee while being handled.  At first they do, but after a while they learn not to.  Also, there is a certain part of the cage where they do most of their peeing.

I have also had mice learn not to pee on me; so they have some control too.
