  1. Not always. Trees are better able to withstand the winds and flooding--because of their embedded root system.

    It just depends on the storm in question.


  2. You are correct, when any storm moves slowly over land it soaks the dirt and root system therefore making it easier to topple over the trees. I know this because they had a hurricane season special on the weather channel the other day and they mentioned this exact same thing.
