  1. Yes, it is true. For example, the sulfate (SO4)-2 and the

    nitrate (NO3)-1 contain more than one atom.

    The ammonium (NH4)+1 ion is an example of a nonmetallic

    cation.  An ion is an atom or group of atoms whose number

    of electrons is not equal to its number of protons.  Thus an

    ion has a net electrical charge.
