  2. The first answerer is correct.  It is called "philophobia."  I'm sure for some people it is a very real fear - to fall in love.  In my line of work, I've come across quite of few cases but on closer analysis, it is not really the "falling in love" part that they are afraid of.  In most instances, some are afraid to love because they fear rejection; the responsibility of being married; the possibility of being dependent on one person; etc. etc.   "Falling in love/being in love" is the most complex emotion of all and yet quite possibly, the most natural thing to do.  Go figure...

  3. Philophobia is the fear of falling in love or being in love. (Greek word philia = love + phobia = fear.)

    According to http://www.changethatsrightnow.com/probl...

Known by a number of names - Philophobia and Fear of Being or Falling in Love being the most common - the problem often significantly impacts the quality of life. It can cause panic attacks and keep people apart from loved ones and business associates. Symptoms typically include shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread, although everyone experiences philophobia in their own way and may have different symptoms.

  4. Being hurt and rejected
