Is it true that the Australian Defence Force would have a field day against a hostile Invading Northern Force?

I know our RAAF is becoming extroardinarily well equiped in our Region and our Navy and especially Army have several incredibly strong Regiments both Commando, Air Born and Special Forces (SAS). So given our 'Isolation' and massive sea borders and somewhat hostile Northern terrain would our medium-long range missles, RAAF & NAVY Obliterate any hostile Northern Force attempting an Invasion. Would the Royal Australian Regiments decimate a landing Force?

Especially given the 'time warning ' the ADF would have against any hostile Force?

  1. Got any nukes? Then yes.

  2. Firstly it would depend on the size of the attack secondly it would also relate to who was attacking us anyone in our region would have great difficulty only superior numbers could create problems.

But in WW2 against incredible odds Australian Military were the first to stop the Japanese Advance into Australia

as For Nuclear Weapons  we don't have any and were not involved in the development of such weapons Menzies after the war wanted Australia to join the big boys club and asked the UK to use Australia as a testing ground and the Whitlam government informed the world that Australia did not want Nuclear Weapons

Woomera is a RAAF base and my Job in the RAAF as an Inspector of Explosives was to inspect every RAAF base every year and contrary to some stories Australia never has had any Nuclear Weapons

  3. Most likely, yes. The ADF is a highly mobile force - not to mention the Army Reserve has three Regiments specifically trained and deployed to discretely survey the Northern parts of Australia constantly - Pilbara Regiment, NORFORCE and 51 Far North Queensland Regiment.

The problem is, Australia has a massive coastline, and we'd be in trouble if any potential invaders opened up a second front from another direction while the majority of the military (including called-up Reserves) were deployed in the North.
