Do you mean "the Chinese empire began?". And no, it didn't begin in 1421. Long before that.

The Chinese were one of the first recorded races to travel in search of new land over seas.

from memory on huge wooden boats that contained all they would need to be self sufficient on long voyages.plants animals etc.

Eventually they were torn apart by their emperor or king or whatever due to the prophecy of bad luck or something.

Not really.  Many scientists had previously propounded the theory that the world might exist long before that, so it hardly qualified as a "discovery".
