I read that the rules are a bit screwed but that there are also the good sides to the 4e. I can`t wait toi get playing but I need help on what to choose 4e or 3.5???? I heard that 3.5 is more interesting and funner but that 4e is faster playing and easier character building. I`m pretty much about to buy 4.0 because it sounds alot easier to understand the rules. plz tell me if I`m making a goo d choice. BTW how to fill up a character sheet, and do I need different types of character sheets for different races such as fighter wizard cleric thief??

  1. The 4th edition rules are pretty easy to learn, compared to the 3.x editions.  Make no mistake, there's still a LOT of stuff to the game, but the rules in 4th edition are pretty straightforward.  Most of that big PHB is actually just tons of powers and options; the actual rules section is pretty small.

4th edition is designed around action and dynamic battles; if you enjoy that in a game, you are likely to enjoy 4th edition.  I prefer it by far to the earlier edition.

To fill out a character sheet, you'll really want to borrow or get a player's handbook and follow the steps for creating a character.  There's a blank character sheet to photocopy in the book, and many different kinds available online.

You can also download some sample characters from the WotC website - www.wizards.com to get you started.

    Have fun gaming!

  2. i agree with Storm, the rules are easier to understand in 4.0 compared to 3.0 and 3.5. bu i dont dwell on it so much cause i play in the 3.5 version mode.

if youre just starting, then youll want to use the players handbook to see what you want to be. but it isnt an easy matter, there's alot of characters you can make. it first starts with species, (humans, elf, half-elf, ogre, etc) and then classes (monk, warrior, scorcer, wizards, etc). dont go for the most powerful of the two classes, each species and class has its own ups and downs. and no you wouldnt need a different sheet for a different class. all they sheets look the same just the information on them are different

im a seventh level human monk. at level seven my AC is 20 and my HP is 49 WITHOUT armor. my base attack is 5. i have a Flurry of Blows move has a +8 to hit and i get to hits each round. +8 means that you roll a 20-sided die and add 8 to to. and my damage is an 8-sided die plus 2. so its pretty awesome. those are my best features though i have a pretty good spot, hide, move silently, and jump.

lol sorry to rattle on, its just that you dont find many DnD players on here. what are you planning on being?
