  1. No, it's more like 8 billion a month. If you do the maths, the figure given to you is closer to the whole US Defense budget.

    Only part of the Defense budget indirectly goes into Iraq, and most of the money being spent on Iraq doesn't come from the Defense budget.


  2. That is about right. The government likes to layout numbers (like Billy here tried to show) but they break them down into categories so that it doesn't look as bad. The daily cost is under 1 billion...so in a week, it wouldn't be quite 8 billion, but it is close.
