  1. Some areas most likely are getting thicker while other areas are getting thinner.   Pick your facts carefully and you can "prove" anything you like.

  2. Last summer saw stunning loss of Arctic sea ice.  This sea ice does rebounds each winter, but scientists are reporting the Arctic as being on "Thin Ice." See article below for details:

    Edit:

Cindy W, I’m not sure what this has to do with the question, but how Greenland was named is no big secret. The name was a marketing ploy to encourage people to move to a place that had a nice name, but not so nice of an environment.

Plus your logic seems to be faulty. If scientists were interested only in money, then they would be saying that there are still too many questions and that the issue needs to be studied more. Instead the vast majority of climatologists are saying that the science is settled. Your logic seems to be backwards.

  3. No, the ice is melting in both thickness and overall land area.

Ice thickness can be seen to decrease overtime from submarine surveys.

"I still don't have an answer from these nuts on how Greenland got its name."

I believe Greenland was named 'green' in order to attract more settlers not that it was necessarily a very warm place to live.

  4. I still don't have an answer from these nuts on how Greenland got its name.  Did they erase the mini-ice age from history simply because it didn't meet their criteria?

We are in a cycle, we will remain in a cycle and we will get colder and warmer, regardless of how powerful we think we are to change it.

Give a scientist a living wage and he will give you knowledge.  Give a scientist wealth and he will give you anything you want.

But Anthony, didn't you see Gore's movie?  "Greenland's ice is melting at an alarming rate."

Also, please don't use Wikipedia as a reference.  I can edit Wikipedia at any time, just like everyone else.  Your link excludes the mini-ice age and touts that the natives died out simply due to famine?  Come on, don't be ridiculous!  Global warming nuts are trying to re-write history to conform to their needs.

ROTFLMAO....  Greenland was named as a MARKETING PLOY???  You are out of your minds!

And iceland was also a joke?

  5. no.

  6. nope.

  7. Nope.

"The thickest, oldest and toughest sea ice around the North Pole is melting, a bad sign for the future of the Arctic ice cap, NASA satellite data showed on Tuesday.

"Thickness is an indicator of long-term health of sea ice, and that's not looking good at the moment," Walt Meier of the National Snow and Ice Data Center told reporters in a telephone briefing.

This adds to the litany of disturbing news about Arctic sea ice, which has been retreating over the last three decades, especially last year, when it ebbed to its lowest level.

Scientists have said the trend is spurred by human-generated climate change.

    {...}

Some 965,300 square miles of perennial ice have been lost -- about one and a half times the area of Alaska -- a 50 percent decrease between February 2007 and February 2008, Meier said."

  8. There was a documentary on TV awhile back about some WWII planes (late 40`s) that were bureid in ice in either Greenland or Iceland. They were hundreds of feet down. Obviously there was a buildup of  ice from when they were abandoned.  The man discovered in the alps was exposed recently from snow melting. (bronze age?) There is a change in the weather....is it a trend? What do we have to do with it? What can we do "about "it?  There are many who say we are responsible....perhaps so... We would do well to look at all views in the light of who is encouraging the line of thought behind the view; and what intetrests lie behind that...  They say follow the money....well, follow the agenda as well...
