Is it true that the number 1-205-999-9972 got prank called hundreds of times?

Question

Apparently a forum of people that disliked someone for abusing his children got hundreds of people to prank phone call 1-205-999-9972, has anyone ever heard of that happening?

area code 205, central & western Alabama?

Hadn't heard about it, but when Tommy Tutone came out with his song in 1982 "867-5309", I guess they had to retire the number anywhere it existed for about 25 years.  A lot of area codes had that number.  I was watching on the news just a few weeks ago that it's now starting to be assigned again and some people are snatching it up.  (Notably, some numbers do belong to a person named Jenny.)
