Some other websites even stated that backfists and hammerfists were introduced to Wing Chun and other Chinese martial arts from classical English bare knuckle fist fighting.

The boxing we see today had ''nothing'' to do with influencing Chinese martial arts! The original bare fisted English boxing did!Bare Knuckle English boxing IS a DIFFERENT martial art from the boxing we see today! The boxing we see today is a sissified version of the old English bare knuckle boxing! The old English bare knuckle boxing allowed kicking, wrestling techniques, dirty tricks such as eye gouging, and even backfists and hammerfists! The old English bare knuckle boxing even used different types of punches that were vertical instead of horizontal!

  1. no

  2. The other guys answer is wrong. The article you read was correct.

  3. agreed

  4. You mean original bare knuckle Irish boxing. Check the ole history books.

It's not entirely impossible but the martial arts in some cases are older than European influence in the region.

  5. the link didn't work; however, I don't think that could be true since Asian martial arts came first. All early civilizations developed their own fighting styles on their own. Not only that but China did not have any significant contact with any western countries for a very long time in their early history which is when their martial arts systems were being developed
