  1. Probably no hard and fast rule banning them from accepting tips, but money is very dirty and would carry untold contamination. So if they are handling food, no they would not be able to accept tips due to health and hygiene regulations.

  2. If you see a tip jar out, then go ahead & tip, otherwise, you can always ask them. If they are allowed ,only aren't allowed to put the jar out, then they would really appriciate the fact that you asked.

  3. There is no one set rule for malls. Whether or not they can accept tips is up to the management of the food court and management of the mall.

Generally, food courts are providing fast food type service and the interaction between employee and customer is minimal.

The food court managers may not want their employees to receive tips because of income tax reporting rules or the difficulty of how to fairly distribute the funds. Who would get the tip? The cashier? The person plating the food? The person who's cooking the food? How do you divide a $1 tip between six employees?

The mall management wants the food court to keep the customers fed and hydrated so they can continue to shop rather than leave to go eat somewhere else. Get 'em in, get 'em out, keep 'em moving!

  4. idk

  5. I've seen tip jars at some food court vendor's counters?
