  1. Most of the time that's true.  They often try to hide it by calling themselves Betty or Mike or other names like that.  I have not found them to be very competent.

  2. Actually, I think they use malaysian slaves..umm...I mean support personnel as well.

I was told by a dell salesman that the only way to get support from an actual north american is to buy the top of the line machine and purchase it as a small business.  This may have changed, but I'm currently typing on the last Dell I will own until they provide support personnel that speak English adequately.

  3. I have spoken to 3, who I could not understand. One of them was not from India, I believe she was here in the USA, but I had great difficulty understanding her. After spending all that money on a computer, that really annoyed me. But, several months ago, someone stole my debit card number. They tried to order something from Dell. Dell got on the case immediately and the man I spoke with was not Indian or if he was, he had wonderful English skills. So, I am not sure if it depends on where you call or when you call, because I have had these different experiences. I think it is ridiculous that anyone who is providing customer service or any other phone support to English-speaking people cannot be understood because of their speaking skills. It is not right, esp.when there is money involved.

  4. most of them are.  ask them, they will typically tell you.

  5. Yes, but not all of them. Several companies outsource to India employees for less expensive wages, unfortunately.  Still, companies in the US will typically have support teams in the country as well, so sometimes you may reach somewhere here in the US.

  6. Yes, unless you're calling from a large customer who pays for customer service then you may get an American tech service center.

  7. they are somewhere over there and they are ridiculous!
