because of the granite there is there..if so, what are the consecuenses in the health reported in the population?

  1. Wherever there's a lot of granite, there can be issues with radon gas (though it's not just confined to granite)

    According to the Scottish government statistics, 5% of houses in Aberdeen tested above the recommended action level for Radon, and one tested at 8 times that.

    The 200 Bqm^3 limit is roughly five times less than the maximum allowed for annual exposure for nuclear industry workers.  Not much of a risk, but made but much worse by cigarette smoking, which concentrates the effect.

    (so driving a car in the UK is about 40% *more* dangerous than that)

    (My house is granite, and stands on granite, in Cornwall: I had it tested, and the levels are high, but not high enough to be actionable: 160 as against 200)
