I have saw a rumor on the internet that Citadel plans to flip some of the former ABC Radio stations they bought from ABC formats next year in 2009. 93.1 WDRQ is one of them that was mentioned. 93.1 WDRQ is a former ABC/Disney radio station.

93.1 FM WDRQ is in Detroit, Michigan.

If Citadel broadcasting flips 93.1 WDRQ FM's format they should restore 93.1 FM WDRQ to its former Top 40/ CHR format.

  1. Yes there is a rumor. There are many regarding the Citadel takeover of ABC - an absolutely awful decision by one of the better broadcast groups (ABC that is, certainly not Citadel).

But I think the management at Citadel has a lot more to worry about than one station in Detroit. Their stock fell below a dollar a share again this week and they face delisting from the NYSE. This is due to absolutely horrid management by bean counters (who take huge bonuses based on awful performances) instead of radio people - and is common knowledge among the professional radio sites.

I agree 'DRQ (the old one based on the "Q" Format out of the San Diego and Tampa Southern Broadcasting stations)would sound great as opposed to the vanilla rock/Top-40 stations of today.

BTW, one of my all time favorite stations was KCBQ. When Jack McCoy's stewardship started in 1971-72 he introduced one of the greatest contests ever devised: "The Last Contest." It was a true classic and I knew Jack at the time and watched him develop the concept.

    Cool site you've got.
