  1. True. Almost a third of the people in Latin America can be classified as white. The source from the first link cited below states the following about the population of Latin America:

"[Total Latin American] Population 549,549,000; White 32.7%, Mestizo [mixture of whites and Native Americans] 27.6%, Mulatto [mixture of whites and blacks]  16.4%, Amerindian or Native Peoples 11.2%, White/Mestizo 5.7%, Black 5%, Asian 0.3%, Other and Unknown 1.1%].

As these numbers show, although almost every Latin American country has a majority population, that is not the case for the region as a whole. Another fact they show is that more than 80% of Latin Americans range from having a significant amount of European admixture to being of fully European origin."

Remember that the term"Hispanic" is a cultural term and not a racial term. Therefore, a person can be a Hispanic and at the same time be white or mixed between white/black or white/Native American (American Indian). In broader term, a Hispanic person can also be 100% black or 100% Native American as long as he/she comes from a Latin American culture. Consider the following passage from the second link:

"As used in the United States, Hispanic is one of several terms of ethnicity employed to categorize any person, of any racial background, of any country and of any religion who has at least one ancestor from the people of Spain or Spanish-speaking Latin America, whether or not the person has Spanish ancestry. It is therefore not a racial term, although as used in the United States it often carries racial connotations. "

  2. Comparing South America to North America. Because the makeup of the United States white population is over 50 years old.  Under 50 years old I would say easily the white population in South America is much greater.  Not so with central America

I agree with gustavo. The white population in Latin America do not migrate to the USA. because they have a good life. Gustavo seems to quite bitter about the situation The USA only gets the bottom end of the food chain

  3. Yes  there are white people in latin america.

  4. Spain invaded the America's many moons ago.

  5. no mix you mexican

  6. It is a pleasure to try to clear out some of your doubts. White and non-white is skin color. Hispanic and non-hispanic is an ethnicity. One can be a white hispanic or brown hispanic or tan hispanic or yellow hispanic, red blue green with purple stripes...

Besides that, "Hispanic" is really a term only used by the people of Latin American origin who live in the United States (and some of Spanish origin too). In Latin America we don't consider ourselves Hispanic, we go by our nationalities.

Depending on the country, more Spanish heritage is present than the native indigenous. Also remember there are multiple ethnicities in Latin America as in the US. Countries like Bolivia and Guatemala have about 60% indigenous, 35% mixed and 5% European origins. Countries like Costa Rica and Chile have larger populations with European backgrounds.

  7. in latin america they are called "touristas".

  8. That is a good question considering that there might be dumb people who think that all latin americans look like mexican people.

Argentina and Uruguay are most white i havent heard of any other country there.

Anyway i think its stupid and people should lay off with discrimination already.

  9. Argentina is mostly composed of white people~most immigrated from Italy or Spain.

  10. Hispanic is a culture (ethnicity), it is not truly a race.  I was born in Colombia, so I consider myself Hispanic, but could not be whiter if I tried. There are white-hispanics, black-hispanics, indian-hispanics and every mix in between.

Latin America had people arriving from Spain, Italy, Germany and many other "caucasian" countries.
