Is it true that they have HUGE spiders (and I mean HUGE, big as a lobster!!) in Iraq?

Someone sent me an e-mail that has a picture of a soldier holding 2 big things that I thought were lobsters OR SOMETHING. (The difference between these things & a lobster, was that their bodies were skinny.) It had several pictures (of different things) & asked you to guess which were real & which were fake. Then under each picture it told which were real & which were fake. It said that he was holding real spiders...(dead, I presume.) WHY WERE THEY SO HUGE ?!

Yes.   Most people don't know that the camel spider can also be found in the southwest U.S. and Mexico.

And they actually aren't spiders at all, they're solpugids. Along with spiders, they are members of the class Arachnida.

Don't listen to the guy above me, they're real. I had them for dinner a couple of times, i also fed them to my giraffe, which led to the birth of my 2-headed llama pet.

They grow really big in the desert; they can be a large as an octopus.

The most famous photo of these 'camel spiders' is a bit of a trick shot.  They look bigger because of the camera angle.  Camel spiders are large, and can eat small lizards, but they are not really spiders.  (nor do they run across the desert at 25 mph, leaping up at the bellies of camels, and eating them alive from inside!)

It is a hoax that they large spiders in Iraq. An optical illusion took place by photographing  the spiders at a close angle.

As one answer said, they can be as big as an octopus, up to 5 feet across, for a successful desert spider.

They are all Muslims, and some are trained as suicide bombers, by Al Spider, on the promise that the flies in paradise would be as big as pigeons.
