  1. Any physical load to the joint that causes mechanical wear to the joint area will promote the advancement of osteoarthritis. Popping your wrists can cause mechanical wear however hot water would be unrelated.

  2. IDK about the hot water!!  But if you keep popping your wrists looks like it would keep from getting arthritis, it's like exercise.  I've heard that people that crack their knuckles will be arthritis free!!!  I would say if you've started it don't stop or you may get arthritis!!!

  3. Neither one causes osteo. When you pop your wrist or other joints you are only releasing a built up gas that accumulates in the spaces between the joints. Osteo is caused by the cartilage {cushioning} wearing out between your bones so the bones rub together.

  4. No it is NOT true. Primary osteoarthritis is mostly related to aging. With aging, the water content of the cartilage increases and the protein makeup of cartilage degenerates. Repetitive use of the joints over the years irritates and inflames the cartilage, causing joint pain and swelling. Eventually, cartilage begins to degenerate by flaking or forming tiny crevasses. In advanced cases, there is a total loss of the cartilage cushion between the bones of the joints. Loss of cartilage cushion causes friction between the bones, leading to pain and limitation of joint mobility. Inflammation of the cartilage can also stimulate new bone outgrowths (spurs) to form around the joints. Osteoarthritis occasionally can be found in multiple members of the same family, implying an heredity (genetic) basis for this condition.

  5. Popping your knuckles is not good.  Doctor's and nurse's wash their hands in hot water all day everyday, so I don't think so.  Go on to the Mayo Clinic site and ask.
