  1. It's a myth...

  2. not true

  3. I'm not at all sure that's true.  I do know once you start shaving facial hair - it's a lifetime sentence.

  4. greyguy nailed it.

  5. It is not true.

The idea has gained currency, however, for two reasons.  First, people generally start shaving hairs when they become noticeable.  At this stage they are continuing to grow in, and so the continuing growth of new hairs seems like a result of the start of shaving, but it would have happened anyway.  Second, when the shaved hairs grow back as stubble, they are shorter and therefore less flexible, and have a sharply cut end.  Thus they feel thicker and stronger even when they are not.

If shaving made hair grow faster, thicker, darker, etc., every man over the age of thirty would have to shave three times a day!

  6. Hair grows with a point on the end...like a cone. So as it nears the point it gets smaller and thinner, thus, appearing lighter. When you shave, you eliminate this point and the rest of the hair up to the surface of the skin. Well, when you get rid of the thin light point, you are left with the darker, thicker hair shaft. So, as this grows out of the skin after you have shaved, the hair appears thicker and darker, and it is, but only until the "point" of the hair is restored. Most of the time you are ready to shave again before this happens, but if you let the hair grow you will notice that it no longer appears thicker and darker, it looks normal, this is because the point has been restored by the sloughing off of hair cells.

  7. nope thats the cold hard truth...thats y my mom didnt want me to start shaving too young. so if ur thinking about shaving, wait until u absolutly need to because after that it becomes a chore and (like most chores) its not fun

  8. true

  9. Not true, and simple to explain. Visible hair is dead tissue, so cutting off something dead could not "grow" faster any more than rubbing the hairs with your fingers.  The stupid idea that hair comes in thicker and more after shaving is just common sense-- guys start shaving as their hair comes in, and of course more of it will come in as puberty advances so some guys get the dumb idea that shaving makes it grow more.

  10. Yeah that is def. true, because u can shave your face, and by the next day for me i already have whiskers coming in, so shes right wait till its absolutely necessary before you start shaving.
