  1. Mhmm. Nail on the head.  They do make some refillable water bottles that don't do this.  I believe you can find them at whole foods or trader joes. =]

  2. I have never herd that I was told that bacteria builds up in it

  3. Yes it does.....thats why you should never buy bottled water.....tap water is the best for you in a real glass

  4. A microscopic amount does.  It happens more in the type of plastic that has a number "7" on the bottom.  Most water bottles have a number "1" and the amount of toxins that leak into the water is harmless.

  5. No, I don't think so, Because chemically, to resolve a material in a liquid, some conditions are required and without these, it cannot resolved i it, because plastic melts at a higher tempo at which water cannot exist in liquid state, so, I think it is not the case plastic will get in the water!!!

2nd reason against this is that, if so happens then the whole bottle must vanish after some time or get thinner with time and regular usage,, that never happens.

  6. yes...

  7. If the bottle is heated and then cooled there is the potential for toxins to seep into the liquid.  Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing how the bottles were stored before you got them.  Get a hard plastic bottle like Nalgene, or a metal/aluminum bottle that can be reused.  It is better for the environment too. But, like a previous poster said, look at the bottom and make sure that there is not a #7 on it.  If there is there is the potential for estrogen to get into the water and have very negitive effects on small children.

  8. Yes, that is why it tastes weird and plasticky.  Not healthy.

Try a reuseable water bottle made of any material that does NOT leach into your water.  I use Klean Kanteens personally but there are a lot of other options out there as well.

  9. yep, it also can build up bacteria if the bottle is left in a warm car in the sun, its pretty unsanitary to use them over and over.  I use a glass jar, its much more eco friendly and i can put it in my dishwasher with out the actual breaking down in my water later on.

  10. no how can that be, i know the water can get stale after a few refills but that's because or the moisture and being in the air

  11. It doesn't have anything to do with refilling...  it has to do with exposure to heat.

Don't expose it to the sun.  Don't put it in the microwave.  Don't put it in the dishwasher.  Don't leave it in the car.  etc.

Use only lukewarm water to wash it.

Heat breaks down the plastic and causes dangerous chemicals to leach out into the water.

  12. If you're using cheap plastic that comes in a once use bottle then yes. Or you can purchase a thermoplastic coated with polyeurethane and exlon interior will hvae no problems.

  13. no.............
