  1. As a matter of fact it's a sign of acceptance. Cat will do this between each other to signify their acceptance of the other cat within their protected area.

The Cat etiquette states that looking at another cat in the eyes basicly mean you are challenging his dominance. That is why, when two cat fights, you'll see the looser looking away. Since nose-to-nose kiss is basicly looking right in the eyes of the other cat, you have there a perfect sign of acceptance. They recreate that behavior with us.  Cat will only do this with the most intimate people.

Since it is only with most intimate people, you could say it is a Kiss!

If you want to give back, do not try to kiss your cat but rather stay still and just make a slow move foward as your cat does the same. See his or her reaction. He will lean back a bit and come back foward a little bit closer, then will look away. You just kissed back your cat.

  2. yes it is that's how cats kiss

  3. Not sure if it is a 'kiss', but it is affection.....just like when the push the top of their head into you....that is supposed to be their 'hug'.

  4. To a cat, it's just another sign of affection. You can call it a kiss if you want.

  5. Yes! I have a very affectionate female tiger kitten named Tina and not only does she touch her nose to mine she also puts a paw on each side of my should like she is trying to give me a hug. Aren't cats amazing little creatures? There is an older sister that let me know when she wants a drink of water by rubbing her head on the faucet and when she wants food she rubs her head on the fridge that means feed me. Now that wouldn't be such a big surprise if her food was in the fridge but it's not where hers is stored. Her food is stored in the cupboard yet she knows where my food is and her way of telling me to get hers is with that little signal of hers. She also let's me know when a strange is in my yard by coming to where I am and she leaves out a low growl and slinks down low when she walks in the room. Who needs a guard dog with a cat like mine? LOL

  6. well it could be an eskimo kiss, thats where you rub your nose with someone elses, but i would say if the kitten licked you on the face it would be a kiss
