  1. The woman above me is correct....low hcg levels can happen to anyone.  I didn't get a positive result until 3 weeks after my period was due (I'm 30 years old).  I had low hcg levels to begin with (on the very low side of normal, I suppose).  However, everything is fine and my baby is due in early September.

  2. This can happen to a woman of any age, I have no idea why you were told it could only occur between the ages of 18 and 19.

  3. 8 weeks is quite late on to get a neg test if your preg. your hormones are quite strong by 8weeks. i had positive with my daughter at 4weeks when i was 18.   you may have had a longer cycle than normal so not as far along as you think or your not preg. Time is the only thing that will give you your answer

  4. I've never heard that. I am 19, and they showed up on my test. My Sister-in-law is 18, and hers showed up too. Maybe we are just weird, but neither of us had problems with pregnancy tests.

  5. Not true - low hcg levels can happen to anyone - any age.

  6. Age has nothing to do with it.

When you conceive, hCG will be produced.  The exact amount varies from woman to women but there are ranges they consider normal.  What they also look for is a substantial rise in hCG levels - the amount should double every couple of days.

It depends on how sensitive the testing kit is, and what sort of test it is (urine or blood).

I assume you've taken a urine test and it has come back negative, and you are either worried you are pregnant or hoping to be pregnant?

Then see a doctor and get a blood test.  Far more accurate.

  7. Levels can be low when testing is done too early. You can pregnancy test 7 days after a missed period or 19 days after sexual intimacy. If you still feel you may be pregnant, take another test a week later or go for a blood test.
