Question:

Is it true that yahoo 360 is closing this march 2008?

I got many invites from people in my yahoo 360 list to join them in Multiply, another site. This exodus of people from yahoo 360 to other sites is now alarming. it seems, one of these days, yahoo 360 will become a ghost town. Many people in my list had said goodbyes already. Can you please reassure me that 360 will not close:? I might wake up one day without my 360 page already and gone.

  1. I don't know the date but

I thought it was suppose to start in January

and go into March.  It said on the website

    that during the transition

people can still use their nicknames

    pictures

    blogs

    friends list

These things will stay during and after the transition.

If you go to this site

    http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360

    your questions will be answered

Also there is a blog on this site

    called Evolution of 360.

  2. Kee is right on both counts! I've read the blog post about Y!360 transitioning/merging with Y!MASH & the typical user profile to eliminate duplication & reduce infrastructure.

She is also correct about the 360 Refugees as to the most vocal of their reasons to move ... but lately they have also sounded quite remorseful & may all come back whenever the new social networking site (SNS) on Y! appears on the scene in a few months.  I have a "presence" on a couple of SNS, but prefer my 360 page over any of the others.

I suggest you sit tight (back up your blogs) and try the new Y!SNS (whatever it will be called) & when your friends ask about it U can tell them how it is.  Best of luck to you!

  3. I don't know anyone who isn't having major problems with their 360's... because..

Yahoo is in the process of launching a new platform here on this site.

The 360 will no longer be called the 360 after this.. we will have a new blogger and other things which yahoo has not announced yet.. Until that then they have stopped doing maintenance on the 360 and have pulled a lot of the server from it to give it to the new platform,  it is extremely difficult to not give up on this site lately.. they set a date for the change over to take place through a letter to a friend of mine who published it in a blog to us.. but  it has passed us by already.. .

The 360 product blog has a blog posted by Matt Warburton .. the new head of Yahoo.. that explains most of the questions you might have.. here is the link to that blog

    http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360

I hope they get it together soon!

  4. Y!360 is transitioning into a different social networking platform in early 2008. There has not been a more specific date announced on the blog yet, so it could happen any time between January and end of March 2008 in my opinion. Yahoo is trying to centralize its profiling services - Y!Mash, Y!360, and the regular Members profile - into one. See http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 for more details.

The new service will likely NOT be called 360. So, yes, it's closing in that sense, but not necessarily in March 2008. It could be earlier than that. It could be a bit later than that. See the Y!360 team blog for accurate, latest details.

Also, the Y!360 team is no longer fixing bugs related to Y!360, so there's no point in trying to contact them about it.

Many Multiply "360 refugees" are frustrated with all the 360 bugs and poor customer service.

  5. They were expected to close in December. I'm glad they didn't. I've already backed up copies of all my blogs. I've also invited my 360 friends to join me on MySpace.

When 360 does close, I'll also move wherever they decide the new location is and hope my friends will join me there too.
