I have been informed through the yahoo owners groups that yahoo will be shutting groups down if they find that the profiles of its members are not

COMPLETLY filled out. So I need everyone to go and fill out your yahoo profile ASAP. I don't want my groups shut down and it does not take that long to do. Please make sure that yours is completely done.

where do you find the profile for these groups?

Sign into YAHOO AND THEN CLICK ON MY ACCOUNT AND ADD ALL INFO IN YOUR PROFILE EXCEPT ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBERS.

THEY WANT YOUR AGE AND YAHOO ID AND AN EMAIL ADDRESS.

  1. that is a hoax, and it's untrue. for one, Yahoo profiles are in no way truly related to Yahoo groups. they are also personal to each, people fill out what they want or don't want. the only thing that HAS to be complete is when your create an account, if you do not fill in required area's. you wont get an account.

some owners require this, and that's that where the hoax generated from to begin with. owners who demand info on profiles, attempt to scare you to do it. of course it always has to do with age which is quite stupid since you can enter any old age; does any oe believe the age on my profile? 00?

however directly from a Yahoo Rep to confirm this is a hoax

  2. I really think that the email was an attempt in phishing. Do not provide any information back on the email, there is no reason that Yahoo  would be asking for this information.

  3. That is been rumored for years and is not true. If what you were told was true, 98 % of all Yahoo groups would be shut down.

When a person registers with Yahoo, they do give their personal information including date of birth.  Then they are given the option to complete a public profile.  A public profile can be completely filled out or only contain a screen name.   There are owners of adult oriented groups who require their members to list their age on their public profile in order to join their groups.  After a person joins an adult group, they can go back to their public profile and delete their age.  If the adult group owner sees this happen, they can remove that member from their group if they wish.  Even though an owner can require it, Yahoo as a whole does not on a public profile.

  4. they wouldn't do that.  And if they did, they would know that people would make stuff up.

On the internet no~one knows if you are a ham sandwich.
