I believe you can still get sunburnt when the skies are cloudy but I dont believe that you can get MORE sunburnt.

  1. The white clouds allow the sunlight to reflect off of them. I can look at the sky on a beautiful blue sky day but I'm never able to glance at the clouds on a sunny afternoon.

  2. I dont see how it would be more sun hitting you, but I can see how it would be as much.

  3. yes it's true because only the bad rays get through the clouds. When the sky is clear both good rays from the sun come in as well as those that burn you

  4. Yes you can i went to the beach with my family and got bad sunburned and it was coudy all day aand i never get sun burned when its jsut plain old sunny out im from arizona and when i went to california i got the worst sunburn of my life on a cloudy day CRAZY!!!

  5. You don't actually get more sun, but you can be unaware of what you are getting which can lead to a severe sunburn.

For example, if you are in direct sun, you get hot, you get red due to bloodflow trying to cool you down, you sweat, you start to worry about getting burned.

Indirect sun, you don't get any of the above triggers.  You stay out longer and get exposure without knowing it, so you don't respond.

  6. You may get a more severe sunburn depending on:

The time of day. You are more likely to get a sunburn between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, when the sun's rays are the strongest. You might think the chance of getting a sunburn on cloudy days is less, but the sun's damaging UV light can pass through clouds.

  7. no you can't. you may still get sunburnt maybe but definately doesn't make sense that you can get more sunburnt for the sun not being directly on you.

  8. Not if it's overcast, but a few clouds will magnify the UV rays.

  9. This is how it works ... because it's cloudy you probably don't put any sunscreen on, but you stay outside longer ... and without proper sunscreen (50spf applied every hour) you do burn, and burn WORSE than you would on a 'bright and sunny' day when you would put your sunscreen on regularly.  I know this because I have extremely PALE skin, and have gotten second degree sunburn on a cloudy day ... when if it had been sunny, I would have used sunscreen.  Now I use BOTH sunscreen and wear long sleeves and a wide brimmed hat.  I nearly DIED of malignant melanoma, for me a 'genetic condition' that I got much earlier because of that 'cloudy sunburn' and today I am much WISER ... and I have a 'terrible scar' to PROVE that sunburn when it's cloudy can STILL KILL if you get skin cancer from it!  I look like someone tried to burn my head off at the base of my neck in back, plus wide surgical scars that go from armpit to armpit ... wear sunscreen EVERY DAY when you go outside!

  10. you can get sunburnED but you don't get more sun when its cloudy

  11. You get the same amount of UV rays  if it is cloudy or Sunny. But on cloudy days you stay out and get exposed more because the Sunny days HEAT is not felt. So if you spend the same amount of time you get the same burn. But you are not as likely to stay out in the heat and are more aware you are burning

  12. I don't see how that makes sense... But, if it's sunny and then clouds come out, then they retain some of the heat.

  13. Yes you can. That is absolutely true.

  14. Yes you can......and you will not feel it until later.
