Or is that just what they tell you to get you to throw your money away?

  1. it doesnt matter how much money you put into any one machine all machines are going to go through hot and dry streaks it just matters how much u bet if u want to win big u gotta bet big u cant go and sit down and play a machine on a 9cent bet and expect to walk away with hundreds or thousands cause it just wont happen, i was just playing tonight and i lady had been playing the machine next to me for over 2hrs and she was in for over 300 bucks so i heard her say and when i left the casino she had 90bucks left, so its all in when u leave if u go to play a slot machine only expecting to make a few dollars and quit when u get ahead instead of trying to break the place u will do get but generally the longer u stay at the machine the less chance of walking away winning money you have

  2. Most modern slots are just computer programs.  Since they aren't open source, few people actually know what the algorithms are.  I'd venture to say, you have a pretty terrible chance of winning no matter how long you play.  However, the longer you play, the more likely you are to win the larger amounts; usually after you've already dumped more than that much into the machine.

  3. No that just guarantees that there'll be plenty of money for whoever does win.
