Someone told me they can ot call home when they are in Tahiti because they can not dial the number 9 in a call to the US. Does anyone know anything about that? It sounds rubbish to me.

Thanks.

  1. Utter nonsense.  To disallow specific digits in an overseas call would be absurd.

The person might have been using ONE particular phone which was faulty and could not dial a digit 9, or it's possible that there was temporary fault in the central office equipment which did not recognize the digit 9 on some calls.

  2. No, this is not true.

You can call any numbers to the US except 1-800 numbers that on't be free but charge.

From Tahiti to the US, you must dial : 00-1-(area code)-phone number

  3. If it sounds absurd it probably is.
