Question:

Is it true that you can sew garments with some kind of glue instead of binding the pieces by sewing?

Can you really use glue to create clothing, to attach the pieces together in place of thread?

How well does the glue work, and how long can it last or stay?

  1. rly? i didnt kno that. is it true??

  2. Yes, there are some fabric glues like Stitch witchery bonding net or steam a seam II.  They are not satisfactory for structural seams in most clothing or garments -- they just can't handle the stress, and typically stiffen the seams too much.

You can use these sorts of products for "pinning" fabrics together prior to sewing, or for things like hems.  Again, though, the hem stiffness is often inappropriate for the garment.

  3. Yes. There's actually two things like this. One I know is actual fabric glue but I'm not sure how durable it is. My mom used to use it to glue glitter on costumes. There is also this stuff that is like a roll of tape which I use when putting fringe decorations on my homemade hand bags. It works like tape and you place it between the two peices of material and iron it. I'm not sure how durable this is either since I have only used it on handbags and not clothes but it seems to be the same type of glue I use on iron ons that I have put on clothes and washed. I guess it all depends on the material you use. If you lose something like denim it might be to heavy to last but regular cotton it might last a while longer.

  4. yup u can try fabric glue i think u get it in DIY stores i think permanent jus refer da label on da glue.

  5. There are many kinds of glue so I guess you could probably glue clothes together. Just make sure the glue is non-toxic.

  6. im not sure about a glue but there is this thing that looks like tape.

U cut how long u want it then u put the 2 fabrics together and u iron it. The heat melts the tape and combines the fabric.

I use it to roll my pants since they are to long on me.

I usually buy mine at walmart at the fabric section
