I'm 15 and I'm a girl 5'3 and weigh 117 I am atheltic so I do have a little muscles and a little fat. But I was wondering is it true that all you need is a good set of abs. It's base on technique and balance. I can windmill and I am working on my flares. I can do a lot of shoulder freezes. Cannot airchair haven't been praticing those yet. Plus I can do a good handstand and sometimes elbow plants.

  1. dayum, i've been bboyin for 1 month now and..

i cant even do continuous windmills yet :( i can only do 1 rotation (and sometimes i fail at those too lmao)

i can do elbow plants though ^_^

i think.. windmill is the powermove that doesnt require much str and is mostly technique.

and flare requires a bit of str though.

and airflares u DO need strength and technique as well.

BUT if u keep practicing flares ull slowly develop the muscles u need.

  2. If you can do all that, then I'm sure you definitely have the muscle. Just because someone isn't extra defined or cut, doesn't mean they don't have muscle. I think it definitely takes muscle to break dance. I'm a ballet dancer so all my strength is in my lower body, I feel like I have 0 upper body strength so break dance and hip hop and anything that requires me to support myself with my arms is a big challenge. All dance forms require muscle one way or another, and you sound like you already got some that you're workin with :D
