Is it true that you need a mexican passport and the green card for greencard holder in 2008?

My friend told me that people with green cards (if they're traveling to mexico) have to have a mexican ppassport by next year since i'm mexican cause when you have to go to mexico you have to show them your green card and passport

Your green card just means you have the right to reside in the U.s....just like my birth certificate does.  Right now passports are required of EVERYONE who FLYS to or from Mexico.  Sometime fter next summer, passports will also be required for LAND travel to and from Mexico...makes no difference if you are n American citizen or green card hoolder, or a citizen of another country.  Since you cannot get a U.S. passport until you become  U.S. citizen, youmust have and use a Mexican passport.  as a green card holder , you are actually required to maintain a current passpot from your home country.  See website below for the current info on passport needs.  Read top half of page carefully for current info.  If you are a green card holder who is a citizen of Mexico, then you will need a Mexican passport.  If you are a green card holder from a different country, then you need a passport from THAT country....in other words, from the country  in which you are a citizen.
