  1. Corsica does have something of a mystique as a place of tough islanders who practice la vendetta.

Corsica was Italian in language and customs for most of its existence. it only became a part of France in 1770.

Corsica has its own version of the Mafia known as the Unione Corse that is more secretive and tightly knit than the Mafia.

There is also a small, very violent, nationalist movement that aims to make Corsica independent once more which has conducted some bombings and assassinations.

  2. Do you mean Caucasian? as in white people? I am a white brit and dont have vendettas. All humans feel anger and sometimes wish the could have revenge when they have a silly row or similar but I wouldnt say violence is normal. there are extremists in every race and religion who take things too far.

if thats not what you meant then i dont know :o)

  3. oh pls stop the clichés...

there's violence in corsica, due to terrorism and mafia, but nothing to do with a "tradition of violence" that like to tell the old french writers like Mérimée (as in his book Colomba) and the recent newspapers that love to perpetuate the old good clichés abt this island.
