Is it true they are going to ban smoking in Amsterdam? If so when will this be?

The law against smoking in the workspace has been here for a couple of years now.

The exception for the hospitality sector has ended last 1st of July, so in effect, in no enclosed workspace, (office, factory, restaurant or other) people may smoke.

I guess that all hotels are (finally) non smoking too.

Out of doors people can still smoke, as they can in their own houses.

Just about every public place in Amsterdam and throughout Holland have a smoking ban.  It's been like this for a while now.

It's funny how they want to ban mixing tobacco with weed in coffee shops.

Ban smoking - yes, but in The Netherlands, not only in Amsterdam.

Date of start : July 1st, 2008.

Allowed where? In special designated smoking rooms, smoking areas and outside. your own place of residence (if not a hotel).

If you think about enjoying a cig and a beer - you can forget about that.
