  1. It's nice to leave any new animal alone to adjust to their environment for awhile.  That is probably especially important with hamsters because they tend to come down with wet-tail when they are overly stressed.

  2. Yes,because the hamster is so stressed out from changing settings that he/she needs time to get used to its surroundings.

  3. Acctually, you should let it get used to it's surroundings for about 48 hours.

  4. yes. let it adjust for 1-2 days, then you can start feeding it bits of carrots bettween the bars of the cage for a day. then put your hand gently down in the cage with a treat in it for two days. on the fourth day you can stroke him while he's eating. then later while your stroking him lift him up and set him back down. do this until he seems comfortable. always remeber to talk to them first.

  5. Yes, it helps the hamster get to know you and it's surroundings.

  6. Yes. The move from the pet store/breeder/former home to your home can be quite stressful. Leaving a new hamster alone for at least 24 hours will give it some time to adjust to its new surroundings. If you moved into a new home with new people, would you want people fussing over you the first day? It's how it is for animals.
