I was invited to be on a tasteful reality show, it would be a one time event and they said that I would a small gift for my troubles. I was told that I am to receive something larger than the small gift thats offered. And I would only receive it if I inquired. Is this true?

I would be honored to be on their show and the small gift will be helpful.

  1. It is a very vague question.

For any TV appearance, you have to sign a release (granting a production company the right to use your image and/or name) and if you're going to receive payment, you should sign a contract as well.

The contract should plainly state how much compensation you are due to receive.  If this isn't clearly spelled out, or you're not happy with the payment, then don't sign the release.  Then they can't use your image without risking a lawsuit.

Any TV production company that doesn't work with releases and contracts is being shady.
