No.  She beat a former Alaska governor, Tony Knowles, by 48% to 41%.  In the Republican primaries, she beat the incumbent Republican governor, Frank Murkowski, 51% to 19% (with the other votes going to other Republican candidates).

Yes, and her economic reform in Alaska has been outstanding proof of her ability to deliver. She took a pay cut in the past to be able to accomplish some of her plans. She truly is for the people of whom she serves. As noted above, she has a 90% approval rating in Alaska.
