  1. with today's car, probably true, if not drive it, at least start it. Unlike the older cars of the 70's where they could sit for 6 months and still run great. Miss fixing my own car

  2. Seems like if you drive a junker every day if may run forever, if you only drive it once a week you have issues, even on a good vehicle.

  3. I have spend lot of money on my car, and I have learned that if you keep the machinery running and fuel it with its requirements, like regular tune-ups, oil change, keep the tires in good condition, check the level of fluids on regular intervals, and get regular mechanic chech-ups, it will give your car a extended life and you will love the way it rides. Keep in mind, "Machines get rusty, if they are not running."

  4. your mechanic is afraid or doesnot know how to work with electrical systems, a properly designed and operating circuit will last a long time with no problems, take it to a competant electrician or a shop specialising in electrical repairs, once the problem is fixed properly you will not have to drive every day nor see that again,  whether you drive once a day or once a month ,it will be irrelevant

  5. No.  that is not correct.  Once a week or so is fine.  I actually bought my first car for $55 and it had been sitting for 2 years.  I put some gas in the tank, put a little gas in the carb, jumped the battery, and it started and ran great.  I had the car for over a year and only sold it because I went in the Air Force.  It was a great car.  I replaced the starter and some tires over that year and that was all.

  6. I wouldn't say everyday but yes, I think it helps.

When the circuits are alive,  current coursing thru the path of the conductors follows the path of least resistance .....resistance causes heat. Heat is an integral part of electricity and it helps to displace any moisture that may condense on ...whatever, connectors, joints, etc.

Besides, ....entropy will see fit that anything ignored will decay.

  7. False.

A decently maintained vehicle should have almost no drain to the battery, and thus, should start even when left alone for several weeks.

Electrical problems are usually caused by problems on electrical contacts or wire breakage, both are made WORSE by driving (shock and shake and all that), not by lack of.

In a car with a very weak battery or very weak alternator, will need frequent runs to recharge the battery, thus giving rise to the myth you're perpetuating. Such problems are easily diagnosed with modern equipment, as simple as a voltimeter.
