  1. I've never heard that from anyone, nor would I ever follow that advice if it was given to me. Life is too short to be miserable, and that includes reading books you hate. What I have heard, and completely agree with, is that you should not allow others to dictate what you read. Just because everyone else is on some popular bandwagon at the moment, doesn't mean that you are required to take part if the book(s) doesn't appeal to you at all.

From my experience, based on my interests, I have found that books that other people hate, I end up enjoying and those that the rest of the population loves, I find incredibly boring and badly written.

  2. Be careful while doing so. It could rub off in your own writing.

  3. umm, no. i like to read good books. much more exciting

  4. well u dont no if its awful if u dont read it. like even if u here its a bad book u still mite like it. so maybe the thing shoulkg be is to read all books

  5. ~Define "awful" and how do you know it's awful until you've read it.  If you want to be uninformed, shallow and extremely limited in outlook and cease learning and growing as a person, you could just limit your literary diet to single genre or two and only read a few select authors.  How very sad that would be.
