im currently on tramodol and i've been on it for 8 months and i take on adverage 7 to 8 per day. someone said . your brain will no longer make endorphins after opiat abuse so you will need pain management. is this true. if so is it pointless for me to try and wean myself off? i've started to take less and i feel pretty bad. is this just a withdraw period or is this permanant? i read many stories of people weaning themselves off tramadol. thanks.

  1. First, tramadol is NOT an opiate.  It is not even a narcotic.  It is habit forming, and has the potential for abuse.  I have taken tramadol for over 2 years for a curvature of my spine and I thought I could manage my pain with otc meds.  WRONG!  What you are experiencing is withdrawl from this drug.  The body is funny about being on any medication, and then it  suddenly being taken away.  People have actually reported more severe pain after stopping meds.  Sometimes the brain will try to manipulate you into taking the meds.  Hang in there.

  2. Your Doctor will know best for your case, but

I was told that generally, the ability to make

    endophins does slowly regenerate.
